NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player in the world by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
