Concentrate on Annie Duke
Posted in Poker on 04/01/2010 11:21 pm by ShelbyAnnie Duke may not have attained her 1st WSOP Bracelet until two thousand and four but she remains one of the most powerful poker competitors around the ring games at The Bellagio in Vegas. Annie’s long-awaited WSOP win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While competitors from the "young crowd" of poker go berserk after a huge win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mommy" to her 4 kids. She hails from NH and grew up in a family of poker players. If you do not accept that, observe her sibling, Howard Lederer, when he plays, Howard taught Annie the correct way to compete in the game.
However, Annie Duke is not a small-potatoes girl and has won her share of difficult games, which includes eliminating Howard a few times on numerous occasions.
Winning well over $3 million in tournament play, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to sharpen his abilities to become a power player in poker.
You may notice Annie at the Bellagio, you will catch her on the tv and you might just even compete with her in an internet poker match, but do not bank on a simple win. Unless you are a rising star, you will not beat her. However, it is likely to be cool to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
