Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the last poker table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While competing in online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world might be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be seen playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
