Web High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Posted in Poker on 09/08/2015 11:21 pm by ShelbyGus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the final table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy-in.
Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amount. I think television can skew our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly plays in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money games?
