No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and winning was not a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
