No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
