NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He started competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
